Fenlon priced out of move to Scotland

Pat Fenlon looks set to remain at the helm of League of Ireland champions Bohemians, after his proposed moved to Scottish Premier League side Dundee United broke down today.

The deal appears to be dead in the water, due to both clubs failing to agree a fee for compensation to prize the 40-year-old manger away from Bohs.

Bohs were reportedly looking for a figure in the region of €250,000 for their man, while it seems Dundee United were only prepared to offer a fee in the region of €90,000. Bohs’ unwillingness to lower their demands appears to be the reason as to why negotiations broke down.

Dundee United released a statement on their website confirming this. The statement in full reads: “Dundee United has decided not to pursue any further interest in Pat Fenlon as team manager due to the excessive compensation demand made by his club and unwillingness to reduce this. We now consider the matter at an end and will pursue other options.”

When contacted on the matter, Bohemians Secretary Gerry Conway said: "Nothing has changed. Pat Fenlon was and still is our manager," but declined to comment further.

The Gypsies also released a statement on their website a short time ago insisting “discussions over the last 24 hours on compensation to be paid to Bohemian FC by Dundee United failed to produce a mutually satisfactory package.”
