WNL Preview: Bohemians -v- Treaty United
BOHEMIANS
Bohemians will be looking to bounce back after their loss in the FAI Cup against DLR Waves last week when they host Treaty United at Dalymount Park on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 2pm).
The Gypises have put in some impressive performances in their last two league outings against Wexford Youths and Shelbourne although both games ended in narrow defeats.
Sean Byrne’s side put on a valiant display when they faced DLR Waves at Dalymount last Friday night but still bowed out of the cup despite impressing particularly in the first half.
Goals from Carla McManus, Rachel Doyle and Ciara Maher saw the visitors through to the next round of the cup in a game that was played in front of around 200 fans.
Treaty United are just two points behind Bohs in the league and Sean Byrne’s side will be desperate to get a win to put some distance between them and the Limerick side.
TREATY UNITED
Treaty United’s last game out was also a loss to DLR Waves when they played them in the league on the 7th of August
That result leaves them second from bottom in the league but with this game against Bohemians and their next one against Athlone Town they have a chance to gain points at the expense of teams in a similar position as them in the league.
The last time the sides met in June it was the Limerick side that claimed the three points with a 2-1 victory. They have failed to win a game since then but have picked up points with draws against Athlone Town and Galway.
Treaty certainly won’t want to be reminded of their last trip to Dublin to play Bohemians on the opening day of the season when they lost 6-2 but expectations on this occasion will be that they will be able to get at least a point from this fixture.
They put in a battling second half performance against DLR Waves at the UCD Bowl in their last league game after being behind 3-0 at the break. Jenna Slattery scored twice to reduce the gap to one before DLR scored two late goals to secure the victory.
Jenna Slattery will come into this fixture full of confidence after her recent involvement with the Irish U19 Squad International Training Camp.
MATCH STATS
Jenna Slattery is Treaty United’s top scorer in the WNL so far with seven goals to her name in 2021, two ahead of Bohemian’s top scorer Chloe Darby.
Treaty United are on a four game losing streak coming into this weekend’s fixture.
There have been a total of 20 goals in the last three games between these teams.
