Cobh Ramblers have announced the signing of Danny O’Connell and Nathan O’Connell.

Danny O’Connell returns to the League of Ireland having had a spell with Cork City in 2015 before joining Avondale in the Munster Senior League.

The 26 year old was part of the Avondale squad that claimed the FAI Intermediate Cup in 2018.

“I can’t wait to get back playing again,” he said, speaking to the club’s media team.

“It’s a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to testing myself at this level.

“Hopefully I can have the same impact as the rest of the MSL players who have stepped up to the LOI, and we’ll be fighting for that play-off spot come the end of the season.”

Nathan O’Connell returns to the Rams having played for their Under 17 side in 2017 before moving on to play for Carrigaline United and Cobh wanderers in the MSL.

The 21 year old most recently lined out for UCC.

“Training has gone well the last few weeks, it was tough coming back into the thick of things when all of the lads were mid-season,” the midfielder said, speaking to the club’s media team.

“But I feel that I’ve gotten my fitness and sharpness back and I feel good. All the team have been really welcoming and we train well as a squad every night.

“Hopefully we can push on, keep getting good results and make the play-offs come the end of the season.”

Both players go into the Ramblers squad for their visit to Bray Wanderers tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm).
