Bangor GG swoop for former Everton keeper Tom Murphy

Leinster Senior League side Bangor GG have confirmed the signing of former Everton keeper Tom Murphy.

Murphy joins Bangor after a recent spell with First Division side Wexford – where he spent the last year at.

The Co. Wicklow native’s exit from Wexford was confirmed earlier this week, and he has since made the move to the Leinster Senior League.

While at Ferrycarrig Park, Murphy impressed suitably during the 2020 season and was named as the club’s player of the year.

However, after starting Wexford’s opening day defeat at home to Cabinteely, Murphy would only make one more appearance for the club before leaving.

His final outing in Wexford colours came during their 3-0 defeat away to Athlone Town on April 26th.

His time at the Slaneysiders followed a stint at UCD – after he returned home from Everton before that.

Elsewhere in the junior ranks, Muirhevna Mor have confirmed the acquisition of former Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers winger Darren Meenan ahead of the new season.
