'I think it will be a really good game' - Anto Breslin relishing his return to Longford with Bohemians

Bohemians full-back Anto Breslin said that he is relishing his return to Bishopsgate to take on his former employer Longford Town on Saturday.

Breslin and his Bohs teammates come into the game following a 4-0 win over Finn Harps last time out.

The 24-year-old joined Longford Town ahead of the 2019 season, and he played a pivotal role in the club’s ultimately unsuccessful promotion hunt.

However, the ex-Wolves youngster did impress – and was named in the PFAI First Division team of the year that season – before joining Bohemians.

“It will be my first time back there since leaving so I’m looking forward to it,” Breslin told extratime.com.

“They’ll get it down and try to play like us so it will be a good game.

“We think we should’ve beaten them the last time we played them here and they probably think the same but it will be a good game between two good sides.”

The game will also see Breslin have another reunion with his former manager Daire Doyle and teammates, albeit at Bishopsgate this time.

“Daire is a great coach,” he added. “I loved my time working with him and at Longford. He’ll get them to try and play the ball on the ground and press really high.

“They’re a high energy team and like to get it down to play.

“They have a great group of lads there. They kept the majority of the lads that got them promoted which is great that Daire stuck by them.

“They’re a bit like ourselves and have been unlucky with a few results so they’ll be looking to get the three points on the board but so will we.

“He’s trusted the lads and they’re doing well. I’m sure that they’re happy enough with the performances and will be looking to turn those draws into wins like ourselves.”

However, Breslin said that the Gypsies latest win over Finn Harps is a welcome boost: “I think it was needed.

@It’s a bit of a lift after last week conceding so late and dropping two points.

He added: “Our achilles heel for the last two games have been set-pieces and we knew Harps were strong there.

“We knew what we had to do and be really aggressive with them and be brave. James was excellent and took the pressure claiming the ball well so that helped.

“We knew we could do it. It was just a bit of a blip and we’ll be strong at set-pieces.”
