Derry City -v- Bray Wanderers
Bray Wanderers could lose their relegation fight if they fail to beat
a troubled Derry City in The Brandywell on Friday evening (kick off
7.45pm).
Bray Wanderers come into the game on the back of an FAI Cup semi- final exit to Sporting Fingal whilst Derry City defeated St Patrick’s Athletic 2-0 in Richmond Park. Bray’s Cup semi-final was all but over after just 20 minutes as Sporting Fingal raced into a 3-0 lead. Despite a better second half performance, the damage had already been done.
Chris Deans is suspended for the visit to the Brandywell on Friday following his sending off on Sunday. Apart from that, Eddie Gormley has a full squad to pick from, with captain Derek Pender returning to the squad having missed out on the Fingal game through suspension.
Derry City ended a five game losing streak in the league with a 2-0 win over St Pats, thanks to goals from Gareth McGlynn and David McDaid. Their off the field problems have taken centre stage recently though, with the players reportedly having not been paid for eight weeks, with the long term future of the club in a serious jeopardy. Gareth McGlynn and Tom McManus are both suspended for the Candystripes.
Although Bray are fighting for their survival, Derry City should have enough to win the game, with the extratime.ie prediction going with a 2-0 home win.
