TREATY UNITED

Tommy Barrett’s side are hoping to continue their unbeaten start in the league as they take on Cork City (Kick-off 7.45 pm).

He knows that his side cannot take a result for granted though. Speaking during the week, he commented that “Cork will be an extremely difficult task for us. Facing a second full-time team in a week will really test us.”

Many would have predicted a tough campaign so far, but they have held their own. This included a draw away to Galway last weekend.

Although he was disappointed with the late equaliser, he wanted to express encouragement. “We can’t fault this group of players. They have been excellent in their application. We are getting there slowly but surely.”

Kieran Hanlon may start again after proving his fitness last week.

CORK CITY

Last weekend saw the Leesiders go down to a third loss in a row in a defeat against Shelbourne.

They have yet to really make their mark so far despite promising much in the build-up. Much of this has been put down to a largely inexperienced squad.

Healy addressed this during the week. “We have a very young squad, it has been a difficult start to the new season, but the lads are working very hard in training and are not downbeat”.

He recognised the need to cut out individual errors which has cost the side so far.

“We are giving away very easy goals at the moment. Two of the goals against Shels were preventable and we need to eradicate this out of our system quickly.”

Healy has to contend with a number of injured players which will be assessed closer to the time. Jack Walsh is missing after his sending-off against Shelbourne.

Healy is sure whoever steps in will be ready. “We will continue to work hard with them, and I am confident the goals will come from this group.”

Referee: Rob Dowling.
