Buckley Excited Ahead of Semi

Sporting Fingal manager Liam Buckley knows it will be a tough job tomorrow afternoon as Premier Division side Bray Wanderers visit Morton stadium for the semi-final of the FAI Ford Cup.

Despite Bray sitting at the foot of the Premier Division, Buckley is aware of the threat they possess. “No doubt it will be a tough game. They have beaten Cork City recently so it will be tough.”

Buckley admitted it was “great” to be playing in Morton tomorrow, but refused to look beyond Bray. “We’re in the mix. Only three teams can win it and we are one of them,” he added.
Buckley watched as Sligo Rovers booked their place in the final with a victory over Fingal’s promotion rivals Waterford United last night. “I watched it on television. Sligo did quite well in the second half. [Waterford] have had a terrific season though, they did well getting to a cup final and a semi final.”

Fingal have both Darren Quigley and Gary O’Neill suspended for the tie, the latter of which having recently put in a man of the match performance in Tuesday night’s league win over Athlone Town and there are rumours that Under 20’s starlet Graeme Sullivan may get a call up for tomorrow’s game, in O’Neill’s absence.

“[Graeme has] played particularly well for the Under 20’s; he’s a great prospect for the future. I haven’t finalised the players yet, I’ll do that in the morning,” said Buckley.

Kick-off at Morton Stadium is 16:05.

Tickets for Sunday’s game are available to purchase from the Pavillions Shopping Centre, Swords (information desk), Sporting Fingal FC in Newtown House, Balhery as well as Gibney’s Pub in Malahaide and the North Dublin Schoolboys/girls League at the Oscar Traynor Road Development Centre.
