UCD -v- Longford Town
UCD will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the First
Division table when they host Longford Town in the Belfield Bowl on
Friday night. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
The Students go into this game with no injury or suspension concerns whatsoever.
Boss Martin Russell has reminded his players once more to remain focused on their goal, saying: "Going back a while now, I've said to the lads to keep doing what they are doing. We have no control over what Shels do, so it's up to us to make sure we do what we can in our games. The players appreciate that they have an opportunity to achieve something and to play in the Premier Division next year. All the teams we have left will test us; we're top of the table and they will want to knock us off."
Longford go into this match on the back of a 4-0 thumping at home to Sporting Fingal last Saturday, although they had won their previous two games before that, at home to Athlone Town and away to Mervue United. Longford have not fared well against the top four sides in this division this year: they've lost all three to Waterford United and Sporting, they've lost twice to UCD and lost once and drawn once against Shelbourne.
Extratime.ie prediction: 3-0. UCD have scored an average of three goals in their last six games and have scored three against Longford twice already this season. Sitting at the top of the table, they will surely be too strong for ninth-placed Longford.
