Waterford announce U17 team for Women’s National League for 2021 season
Waterford FC have announced the formation of a Women’s U 17 National League Team for the 2021 season.
The new U 17 WNL team will join the Waterford FC Academy which already has four underage boys teams ( U 14, U 15, U 17, U 19) at the club.
This is the first step in the club’s commitment to providing an opportunity for female players to play at a national level in the Women’s National League.
Mike Geoghegan, the clubs Head of Youth Development said: ‘’I am delighted to get the club’s owners support for this important initiative.it is important for us that we provide equal opportunity for the women’s game.’’
The team will be managed by Brendan White who managed the boys U 17 team in the 2020 season and they will be based at the state-of -the- art Waterford IT sports arena at Carriganore Co Waterford.
