Cobh Ramblers sign striker Ciaran Griffin from Munster Senior League
Cobh Ramblers have signed striker Ciaran Griffin from Cobh Wanderers in the Munster Senior League Premier Division.
The 19 year old came through the Springfield Ramblers academy before making the step up to Cobh Wanderers’ youth set-up and then the senior team. Prior to the cessation of all football activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the teenager was one of the top goal scorers in the Munster Senior League.
“I’m delighted to have signed for such a great club like Ramblers,” he told the club’s media team.
“There’s a great squad here and we’re all really looking forward to the season ahead.”
The Ramblers have had a lot of success with signing players from the Munster Senior League in recent seasons. Chris Hull, who played for Mayfield United, scored to beat Dundalk in the semi-finals of the 2018 EA Sports Cup.
Goalkeeper Sean Barron, who won the 2019 FAI Intermediate Cup with Avondale United, has been a rock for Stuart Ashton’s side since he was brought in the summer of 2020.
This transfer window they signed James Hegarty, David O’Leary, James McCarthy, and Darren Murphy from the Munster Senior League.
The Ramblers will open their 2021 League of Ireland First Division campaign on the 26th of March with an away trip to local rivals Cork City at Turner’s Cross.
