John Egan set to miss upcoming qualifiers as he is ruled out for eight weeks
Republic of Ireland defender John Egan has been ruled out for eight weeks with a dislocated toe.
His club manager Chris Wilder confirmed the Sheffield United defender is due for an extended period on the sideline at his morning press conference.
The news is a major blow to Stephen Kenny who has had little luck since taking over the job almost one year ago.
Egan was stretchered off in his side's defeat to West Ham on Monday with Wilder addmitting at the time that it did not look good saying; "He’s a tough Irish boy so for him to stick his hand up wasn’t a good sign.”
Kenny, who has seen two members of his backroom team depart over the winter, must now evaluate his options ahead of taking on Serbia towards the end of next month.
