Eddie Nolan joins Motherwell on loan
Republic of Ireland defender Eddie Nolan has signed for Motherwell on loan from Crewe Alexandra for the remainder of the 20/21 season.
The Waterford man joins the Steelmen with 354 professional appearances to his name having fallen out of favour with Crewe manager David Artell in 2020.
Motherwell manager Graham Alexander spoke about Nolan’s versatility as a defender; “Eddie is a vastly experienced defender and we’re glad to have him.
“I’ve faced him many times with my previous teams and know what he will bring.
“He can slot in anywhere across the back four, giving us good competition across all the defensive line.”
Primarily playing at centre-half, Nolan has three senior caps for Ireland, all coming in 2009 under Giovanni Trappatoni and is a former U21 captain. He has previously played for Blackburn Rovers, Stockport, Hartlepool, Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe, York City and Blackpool.
Nolan gives Motherwell another defensive option as they currently sit tenth in the Scottish Premiership, three points from bottom.
