Aaron McCarey leaves Dundalk to sign for Cliftonville
Dundalk officially have no senior goalkeeper left at the club after Aaron McCarey departed the Lilywhites to sign with Clifonville on the Northern side of the border.
The 28 year old trained with his new teammates for the first time last night after a very short break following Dundalk's season ending in the Europa League Group Stages earlier this month.
McCarey has played for the Republic of Ireland at a host of underage levels and has recieved senior call ups by both Giovanni Trappattoni and Martin O'Neill.
In terms of previous club's, McCarey has lined out for Bury, Wolves, Portsmouth, York City, as well as a host of others during a busy career to date.
McCarey posting on his twitter page said: "its fair to say it didn’t go as I thought but would like to wish everyone involved all the best going forward."
Cliftonville are back in action on January 2nd when they travel to play Dungannon Swifts in what could be McCarey's debut for his new club.
Meanwhile Dundalk have also announced the departure of goalkeeping coach Steve WIlliams after seven years at the club.
