Ireland team depart for Bulgaria with clean COVID-19 bill of health
The Republic of Ireland squad departed for Bulgaria on Tuesday afternoon after their latest round of COVID-19 testing returned negative results.
Stephen Kenny’s side play Sofia on Thursday evening in their opening UEFA Nations League match before they return to Dublin to take on Finland at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.
Having received a derogation from the Irish government as an elite team, the Irish squad is currently operating in a UEFA bubble.
“This latest round of negative results is very welcome,” said FAI Medical Director Dr Alan Byrne. “We have adhered to all HSE and UEFA guidelines and we again thank the government for their support to allow us to compete in the UEFA Nations League this week.”
