Shamrock Rovers to stream Europa League qualifier online
Shamrock Rovers will stream online their Europa League one-legged qualifier against Finnish side Ilves Tampere from Tallaght on Thursday.
The club is making the stream available free of charge to their club members and season ticket holders and it will also be available on pay-per-view - with Rovers confirming on Tuesday the stream will be available worldwide (except in Finland).
The Hoops will have broadcaster Con Murphy on commentator duty, alongside Rovers’ Academy Director Shane Robinson who played for a couple of seasons in Finland with FC Haka.
COVID19 concerns
There had been some speculation that this First Qualifying Round game may not go ahead due to updated Finnish government restrictions on travel to Ireland.
However, it seems that the Finnish Cup winners can still travel to Ireland and not have to quarantine on their return to Finland.
Green list match officials
The match officials are from Slovakia. Both Finland and Slovakia are currently on the Irish government’s green list.
As per government requirements “individuals arriving into Ireland from these locations will not be requested to restrict their movements upon entry.”
Referee Michal Ocenas has experience officiating at this level across three seasons in the Europa League qualifiers including last season the first round qualifier between AEK Larnaca and Petrocub, and the Connah’s Quay v Partizan Belgrade second round qualifier between.
