Vinny Perth departs Dundalk via mutual consent
Premier Division league title holders Dundalk have confirmed the departure of manager Vinny Perth via mutual consent.
Perth’s departure from the Oriel Park hotseat comes shortly after the Lilywhites were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Slovenian side NK Celje.
Despite enjoying much of the play last night, the Lilywhites came out on the wrong end of a 3-0 defeat in Hungary.
The result has sealed the fate of Perth who presided over an EA Sports Cup win last season along with a Premier Division title success.
A statement from Dundalk read this evening: “The board of Dundalk Football Club can confirm that manager Vinny Perth has left the club with immediate effect.
"We would like to thank Vinny for the hard work he has put in over the past seven-and-a-half years at Oriel Park.
"The success that he helped bring to the club as assistant manager and, subsequently, as head coach and manager, will never be forgotten and we wish him well for the future.
"John Gill and Alan Reynolds will take charge of first-team affairs until further notice.”
