Inter to meet Sevilla in Europa League final after Romelu Lukaku nets for the tenth straight game

Internazionale will face Sevilla in Friday night’s Europa League final after a record-breaking 5-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in Koln on Monday night.

Romelu Lukaku scored twice – the tenth consecutive Europa League game in which he’s netted – as the nerazzurri cruised past the Ukrainian champions.

Lautaro Martinez also hit the net twice for the Serie A side, while Danilo D’Ambrosio also found the target in the rout.

Inter led as early as the 17th minute as Argentinian striker Martinez headed home Nicolo Barella’s cross following a poor clearance from Shakhtar keeper Andriy Pyatov.

It remained 1-0 at the break but Inter cut loose in the second half, D’Ambrosio adding the second with a back-post header from Marcelo Brozovic’s corner.

Martinez added his second with a sweet side-footed finish from the edge of the box before Lukaku got in on the act with a wonderfully-taken strike 12 minutes from time.

Lukaku had become surplus to requirements at former club Manchester United, who were knocked out by Sevilla on Sunday, but has revitalised himself since moving to the San Siro last summer.

There was time for Lukaku to add his second, and Inter’s fifth, outpacing the Shakhtar defence before rifling him his 33rd goal in all competitions.
