Ciara Watling signs new deal with Charlton
Northern Ireland International Ciara Watling has penned a one year deal to stay at Charlton Athletic.
The midfielder started her footballing career at the Addicks and returned to the red side of South East London in January from Crystal Palace after four years with the Eagles.
During her first spell at the Valley she made 54 appearances and netted four goals.
She was also part of the team that won the Premier League Southern Division in 2010/11.
Speaking to the club website she said "I’m delighted to re-sign for the club, I was really enjoying my new journey with Charlton however with the season being cut short due to the pandemic I only ended up playing a few games.
“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead, I feel fully settled with the club and it’s looking extremely positive with a few great signings and the players who have re-signed.
“It’s been a really refreshing pre-season, a great mood and vibe around the club. We are all working hard and bonding well, it’s a brilliant group including all of the staff. I can’t wait for the season to start now.”
Watling is in the same Charlton Athletic side as Northern Ireland teammate Rachel Newborough who has been a key part of Kenny Shiels’ side so far in the Euro 2021 qualifiers.
Watling will face a reunion with former club Crystal Palace on the opening day of the 2020/21 season as the Addicks host the Eagles on Sunday September 6th.
