Former Ireland under-19 midfielder Corey O'Keeffe joins Graham Coughlan's Mansfield Town
Mansfield Town have completed the signing of former Republic of Ireland under-19 international Corey O’Keeffe from Birmingham City.
The 22-year-old arrives at the One Call Stadium having signed a two-year deal with the Stags.
O’Keeffe began his professional career with Birmingham City in 2008. He came through the ranks at St Andrews before loan spells with Solihull Motors and, most recently, Macclesfield.
“Corey has a bright future ahead of him,” manager Graham Coughlan told mansfieldtown.net.
“He had a really good season on loan at Macclesfield last season. He has a wise head on young shoulders and offers us great energy, enthusiasm and can cover a number of positions.”
O’Keeffe also spoke after the news broke, revealing his excitement at his new challenge.
“I’m delighted to sign for Mansfield Town,” he told the club's official website.
“It is a club with an excellent infrastructure and the manager has already made a number of really impressive signings ahead of the new season.
“I can’t wait to get started. I’m ready now to go into the squad and work hard.”
Mansfield finished 21st of 24 teams in the 2019/20 League Two season, which was curtailed due to Covid-19.
Everyone at the One Call Stadium will be hoping that O’Keefe can help the Stags to higher finish this time around.
