Former Finn Harps captain Keith Cowan signs new contract with Irish Cup champions Glentoran
Former Finn Harps captain Keith Cowan has signed a new contract with Irish Cup winner Glentoran ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Cowan joined the Glens in January and starred as the East Belfast club edged out Ballymena United in the Irish Cup final.
Defensive comrade Mal Smith has also signed a new deal with the Glens, but Dutch winger Elvio Van Overbeek will depart after one season at the Oval.
Former Netherlands under-21 international Van Overbeek joined from Telstar last summer following spells with PSV, Go Ahead Eagles and De Graafschap.
Glens manager Mick McDermott also confirmed that goalkeeper Elliott Morris, former Dundalk striker Ciaran O’Connor, Steven Gordon and Cameron Stewart have also signed new contracts.
The Glens yesterday announced the signings of Burundi international striker Gael Bigirimana and Gibraltar international Dayle Coleing.
It’s been a busy transfer window for McDermott, who has seen Jamie McDonagh, Rory Brown and Luke McCullough arrive while star midfielders Navid Nasseri and Conor Pepper left for Linfield.
