Former Hoop Gavin Bazunu called to Man City's Champions League squad
Former Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu has been called up to Manchester City’s Champions League squad ahead of their second leg tie against Real Madrid later this week.
Bazunu replaces Leroy Sane in the Manchester City squad, who has recently transferred to German side Bayern Munich.
The 18 year old has been playing with the under 18 and under 23 City squads to date after earning a move to Manchester in February 2019 from Irish Premier Division side Shamrock Rovers.
Bazunu has been training with the Manchester City first team recently and is considered third choice keeper at the club after Scott Carson left in July.
The Dublin born shot stopper made his debut for the Ireland under 21 side last November in a 1-0 away win to Armenia in a European Championship qualifier.
He earned a further cap against Sweden five days later in a 4-1 victory for the Irish side.
Man City host Real Madrid on Friday night in the second leg of their last 16 clash. City lead 2-1 on aggregate.
