Former Bohemians and Bluebell United keeper Andy McNulty takes over at LSL club TEK United

Former Bohemians and Bluebell United goalkeeper Andy McNulty has taken up the position of first team manager at Leinster Senior League side TEK United.

The 31-year-old has spent the past seven years with Bluebell and has most recently balanced the role of the Red Cow club’s chairman with playing for both Saturday and Sunday sides.

Senior Sunday 1 side TEK sit precariously two points above the relegation zone with just five games remaining and McNulty’s immediate target will be to secure third-tier football for another season.

Bidding farewell to his Bluebell clubmates, McNulty wrote: “It wasn’t just crossing the white line to kick a ball, it was the coaches, players & volunteers that I met over the years.

“They were extended family. I’d like to thank everyone that I met over my time at the club. We went through a lot.

“Together, we brought the club back to be one of the most respected & feared amateur clubs in the country. We even managed some pretty impressive LOI scalps along the way too.”

Dubliner McNulty spent time in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Elgin City before returning to Ireland to sign for Bray Wanderers in 2009.

He then spent two years at the Bell before joining Bohemians, where he was part of the famous 4-0 win over Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium that all but ended Stephen Kenny’s reign.

The shot-stopper returned to Bluebell in 2013 and has been an integral part of Andy Noonan’s side ever since, on and off the field.

“Five games to save our season but I have the utmost belief in this squad. I am very much looking forward to the challenge. I can’t wait to get going,” McNulty added, looking forward to the TEK challenge.
