Irish international Louise Quinn signs one-year deal with Fiorentina
Irish international Louise Quinn has signed for Italian giants Fiorentina on a one-year deal.
Having spent the last three years at Arsenal winning the WSL and a Conti Cup, she has been a free agent since her contract expired in June.
Quinn, who has won 79 caps for Ireland, revealed her delighted at the move on the club’s social media channels, “Really, really happy to be here. Can’t wait to see you guys on the pitch! Forza Viola!”
The former Peamount centre-half is no stranger to European football having played with Swedish side Eskilstuna United and made appearances in the Women’s Champions League with Arsenal.
It will be a significant boost to Vera Pauw and the Republic of Ireland women’s team to have Quinn back playing club football with crucial Euro 2021 qualifiers against Germany and Ukraine coming up later in the year.
She is the second Irish player to play in Serie A in recent years after Stephanie Roche played with CF Florentia in 2018 before returning recently to Peaumount.
It is so so good to now say that I am officially a Fiorentina player!! @ACF_Womens
