2020 WNL Fixture list released
The fixtures for the 2020 Women’s National League season have been released.
The season had been about to get underway in March before the Covid-19 pandemic ceased all football, but things have improved, and it now looks like a truncated season will be possible.
The season has been split into two phases with Phase one running from August until the start of October. This phase will see every club play against each other before phase two begins, with this phase signalling the clubs being split into two groups before they play each other again.
The weekend of the 13th of December has been set aside for the FAI Cup final with that competition set to begin at the Quarter Final stage in October.
Due to the massive financial hit clubs have taken in recent months, the FAI have waived affiliation fees as well as ensuring participation money is divided up equally.
Other measures that have also been introduced include a participation grant as well as the formation of a Covid-19 Assistance Grant to off set some of the costs clubs will face.
Further funds will be made available to the club’s that are playing the WNL U17 league to help with the running costs associated with those squads.
