Former Derry player Lukas Schubert signs for FC Pinzgau
Former Derry City midfielder Lukas Schubert has signed for Austrian side FC Pinzgau.
The 31 year old joins the side on a two year deal having last played for SV Grondig, also from Austria.
Schubert spent from May 2016 until November 2017 with the Candystripes, making his debut in the FAI Cup against Drogheda – a game in which he would come off the bench to win a penalty. He would go on to make 15 league appearances and score three goals during the remainder of that first season.
Schubert began his career in Red Star Salzburg’s academy before moving to SV Grondig in January 2008. Then at the start of the 2013/2014 season, a heart condition ruled him out for the rest of the campaign and Schubert also was forced to sit out the entire following year too.
In August 2015 he eventually returned to play and would conclude his seven year spell at the club, amassing a total of 150 appearances before moving to Derry in 2016.
