Republic of Ireland keeper Danny Rogers leaves Aberdeen after 9 years
Former Irish under 21 international goalkeeper Danny Rogers is leaving Aberdeen after nine seasons at the Scottish Premiership side.
The American born 26-year-old leaves Pittodrie having made just three senior appearances for the club during the 2017-18 campaign.
Since leaving Ireland in 2011, Rogers has had five loan spells in the lower leagues with Airedrieonians, Dumbarton, Falkirk, St.Mirren and most recently Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship, racking up 123 senior appearances in the process.
Despite never quite making the breakthrough for the Dons, he managed to earn seven caps for the u21s between 2014 and 2016 and received his first senior call up from Martin O’Neill for qualifiers against Moldova and Georgia four years ago.
He announced his decision in a post on twitter saying:
“After nine years, my time at Aberdeen is over, I want to thank all the staff and fans for an amazing journey. I leave with great friends and memories. Wearing the badge for this club was an honour that I’ll never forget.
