Yet more problems for Cork

Gareth Farrelly is set to take action against his former employers, Cork City FC, after his contract was terminated during a serious illness over 12 months ago.

“They stopped paying me on August 12 right until the end of my contract,” Farrelly said back in February.

A court ruling earlier this year meant that the club were to compensate the former Irish midfielder, but they’ve failed to pay and unless a deal is brokered in the next few days, another winding up order will be issued against the troubled club.

Meanwhile, in some good news for the club, the current players were last night paid their outstanding wages from August.

The Leesiders travel to Dundalk tomorrow night, as they continue their pursuit for European football.
