Rossiter hoping Bohs can bounce back
Mark Rossiter insists there is no need to panic after Bohemians lost their last two games and he is hoping they can return to winning ways on Friday against Sligo Rovers.
The Gypsies put their FAI Ford Cup crown on the line as they prepare to host Paul Cook’s side in a quarter-final match at Dalymount Park.
With Bohs losing to The Bit O’Red in the Premier Division last week, they know exactly what to expect against a team that have started to put a good run of results together.
“Anybody who has seen Sligo this year knows that on their day they can beat anybody,” said Rossiter, who hails from Sligo.
“They are a strong team and if they could just bring in a bit of consistency they would be up there challenging with us as well.
“They’ve had a couple of key injuries with Gavin Peers being a massive loss to them. But they have new players that have come in and they will be eager to impress the manager, especially with so many important games coming up.”
Regarding the two defeats in the league, Rossiter is not overly worried. He sees the Sligo game as a missed opportunity as Bohs were on top for the majority of the contest in The Showgrounds.
While the home defeat to Bray Wanderers was a mixture of losing two players to harsh dismissals and not taking their chances in front of goal. Either way, the 25-year-old defender thinks that they were just blips.
“On another night, it could maybe have swung another way. Maybe we didn’t create as many goalscoring opportunities, but Pat (Fenlon) was happy with how we played overall,” explained Rossiter.
“I spoke to Eddie (Gormley) recently and he thought we were flying even with nine men. It was just one of those nights really. There will be question marks over the two red cards, but the referee made his decision so you have to get on with it.
“No need to panic. Even against Sligo, anyone who was there will know that they were holding out for long periods of that game.
“On another night, Richard Brush wouldn’t have made that save from Jason Byrne and we would have went away with something, but fair play to them they held on to get the three points and the same with Bray.”
