Miller steps down from Dundalk post
Dundalk have been dealt a big blow with the news that assistant manager Joe Miller has severed his ties with the club over a pay dispute.
The 41-year-old arrived at Oriel Park this season to work alongside manager Sean Connor and to help The Lilywhites secure their top flight status after winning promotion last year.
There have been numerous changes at the club this term with coach Jimmy Brown leaving to join Lisburn Distillery, while players like George O’Callaghan, Dave Rogers, Harpal Singh all departed before even reaching the halfway stage of the campaign.
Now Miller joins that list as a cloud of uncertainty hovers over the County Louth club, who recently asked their players to agree to a pay cut.
“Joe was disappointed with the pay-cuts and he needed assurances for next season,” said Connor.
“But, like any other club, we can’t make those assurances right now.
“He was disappointed the players he had brought over had to take pay-cuts and I’m disappointed to see him go because Joe had done very good work.
“One or two players will probably go back (to Scotland) at the end of the season because of the pay-cuts.”
The club have not yet confirmed whether they will seek to replace Miller for the remainder of the season.
