Darron Gibson signs with League 2 Salford City
Former Manchester United and Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson has joined League 2 side Salford City until the end of the season.
The 32 times capped Republic of Ireland international had been training with the Ammies following his release from Wigan Athletic at the end of last year.
Gibson spoke of his excitement of joining the club “I’m Looking forward to the new challenge, I like where the club is headed, trying to push for promotion and I’m looking forward to getting started”
The 32-year-old began his career at Manchester United as a 17-year old and went on to make 60 first-team appearances or the club the highlight being a goal in the 2010/11 champions league semi-final win against Schalke.
The Derry native has also lined out for Everton, Sunderland and most recently Wigan.
He will join ex Dundalk star Richie Towell and experienced striker Adam Rooney who are already at the club.
