Dundalk sign Cammy Smith on loan from Dundee United
Dundalk have announced the loan signing of former Scotland Under 21 international Cammy Smith from Dundee United.
The Aberdeen born forward began his career at Pittordie with his hometown club, Smith made 76 appearances for the Dons and scored three times.
He picked up a League Cup winners medal during his time with Aberdeen and got his first taste of life with Dundee United and St Mirren with loan spells at the two clubs towards the end of his time in The Granite City.
The 24 year old signed permanently with St Mirren ahead of the 2017/2018 season and helped the club to the Scottish Championship title and promotion to the Premiership.
Smith returned to Dundee United in January 2019 but he has seen limited opportunities with the first team this season.
“Cammy is an extremely talented player who can play in any of the three positions behind the striker,” manager Vinny Perth said, speaking to the club’s website.
“He is hardworking and an extremely technical player. He is on loan until the summer with a view to making it a permanent deal and we obviously hope that happens because it will mean he has had a good spell with us.”
The attacker has already become familiar with his new teammates having travelled to Spain for Dundalk’s training camp ahead of the new League of Ireland season and playing in their friendly against CFR Cluj.
