Shels boss Ian Morris signs two-year contract extension
Shelbourne have announced that manager Ian Morris has signed a new contract that will keep him at Tolka Park until November 2022.
The former Bohemians defender became Shels boss last Summer and guided the club to immediate success as they captured the 2019 First Division title.
During the season Shelbourne enjoyed nineteen wins including an eleven game unbeaten streak consisting of ten wins and will hope to bring that kind of momentum into the 2020 Premier Division season.
Speaking to ShelbourneFC.ie, Morris commented that he was “delighted” to extend his stay at Shels.
“To be given the chance to build on the success and foundations of last year is fantastic.
“It’s a really good place to be and a great environment for young players to be in as well as the morale and camaraderie of the First Team which is second to none.
“On top of that, the bond between the fans and team is there to see again throughout the pre-season and that’s what it’s all about,” he added.
Looking ahead to Shelbourne’s 125th year, Morris has added even more quality to his squad with League of Ireland stalwarts Karl Sheppard and Gary Deegan amongst those putting pen to paper.
While the 32-year-old is aware of the challenge ahead, he finished by underlining the club’s ambitions for the upcoming season.
“We know how strong the Premier Division is this year and there will be surprises and twists along the way but we’re going out to win every game.”
