First Division Wexford snap up Kaleem Simon and James Carroll
First Division Wexford have unveiled the double signing of forward Kaleem Simon and defender James Carroll.
Simon joins the Slaneysiders after his most recent spell in the League of Ireland with Athlone Town, having played for Cabinteely, UCD, Longford Town and Bohemians previously.
Central defender Carroll joins Brian O’Sullivan’s outfit having played with Dundalk at the underage grades.
While at Oriel Park, the youngster joined from neighbours Drogheda United as he struggled to make an imprint on Vinny Perth’s and his predecessor Stephen Kenny’s starting XI.
Speaking on his new recruits, Wexford boss O’Sullivan said; “Kaleem's (Simon) got plenty of League of Ireland experience.
“He caused us problems when we played against Athlone last season, strong, skilful and excellent on the ball.
“He's versatile, can play on either wing or in the ten position. He'll fit in well with the lads we already have in place."
"He (James Carroll) is a centre back who is aggressive, good in the air and good on the ball,” he added.
“James made his senior debut for Dundalk last year in the FAI Cup at 19 years of age, I think he'll play a big part this coming season.”
