Bone back with Blues
Alan Reynolds has been busy in the last few days confirming players for his Blues squad for 2020 with Sam Bone, along with striker Graham Cummins (see here), putting pen to paper on Friday.
The versatile player who can line out in defence or midfield, joined the Blues midway through last season on loan from Shamrock Rovers but has now made the permanent move to the RSC.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back at in the New Year,” said Bone. “The last six months I had spent with Waterford have been the happiest I’ve been in professional football, so it was a no brainer for me to sign back for 2020.
“I had six months left on my contract at Shamrock Rovers when I came down last season and I knew myself once I got back fit, if I could play well and regularly doors would open. I was only too happy when Alan came along with a contract for me.
His manager is very happy to have Bone back with his Blues team for next season.
“Sam’s a great addition to the squad for 2020,” said Reynolds. “He’s a real hard-working player and gives it his all every time.
“When he came into the squad last year on loan, he worked hard to get his fitness back to full tilt, and when he did he fitted into the team really well.
“Speaking to Sam you can tell he really buys into the club, and what we’re about. That’s the kind of person we want here.”
Bone made just four league appearances for Rovers in 2019, compared with 20 in the league in 2018, including 12 starts, and 16 in 2017 (with ten of them off the bench).
