Athlone Town latest club to join So Hotels Women's National League
Athlone Town will have representation in the Só Hotels Women's National League when the new season kicks off in March 2020.
The Midlander’s, who already have had a team playing in the Women's under-17 National League for the last two seasons, are making the step up to the senior game building on their participation in the underage women’s game.
Kayleigh Shine earned a place in the Republic of Ireland Women's under-19 squad for the European Championship qualifiers earlier this year on the back of her performances with Athlone’s under-17 team.
The FAI also confirmed on Wednesday that Bray Wanderers will enter a team into the women’s under-17 League next season – they are the 13th club to have a team in the underage league for 2020.
Shamrock Rovers and Carlow-Kilkenny FC announced last month that they would also have sides playing in the under-17 women’s league next season.
