Limerick FC - v- Longford Town

Longford Town will be full of confidence after their 1-0 win over Premier Division side Galway United in the FAI Ford Cup last Friday, when they travel to Jackman Park to take on Pat Scully’s Limerick FC side. (Kick-off 7:45p.m).
Gareth Cronin’s side are in poor form in the First Division but Liam Lynch’s winning goal which came with six minutes left on the clock in Terryland Park will give Longford a welcomed lift going into Friday’s game with Limerick FC. Since relegation to the First Division, Longford’s record has been poor against Limerick and Gareth Cronin is fully aware of the challenge his side faces on Friday.
Limerick’s form has been very inconsistent this season with a string of injuries hampering Pat Scully’s ambitions for the season. Despite Longford’s excellent victory last Friday, Scully isn’t overly concerned about Longford’s form as his side prepare for Friday night’s clash.

“It was a great result for Longford, but it was also a cup game when anything can happen. I don’t think it will have a big impact on our league game this weekend. “Pat Scully added.

Limerick’s Pat Scully will welcome club captain Pat Purcell back into the squad, the after his recent injury. Both Niall Donnelly and Brian O’ Callaghan have left the club due to personal reasons. Limerick are still without Ian Storan and Thomas Lyons due to injury and Pat Scully is also without the in-form John Tierney who missed Friday’s game through injury.
Longford have to plan for Friday’s game without the services of Brian McCarthy who is suspended for the trip to Limerick. Gareth Cronin has no new injuries to worry about.
