Bradley positive after Dublin Derby win over Kenny's Saints

Colman Stanley reports from Richmond Park

Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley admitted his side were not at their best despite their 2-0 victory over St. Patrick’s Athletic in Richmond Park on Monday night.

However, he was in a positive mood when he spoke to extratime.ie after the match, despite the performance and their recent run of poor results

“I thought we were pretty comfortable without being at our best.

“We were a little bit sloppy in our decision making and our passing.

“We knew the game was over (after the second goal) and it was just about keeping our shape, and keeping the ball in front of us.

“On Friday (vs Dundalk) we had five or six chances, really good chances to win the game, we didn’t. Tonight, we had probably three and we took two of them.”

There have been suggestions that one of Rovers main issues is their lack of a prolific striker, however Bradley did not seem to think the argument holds much weight. Although their recent signing of Cork striker Graham Cummins may suggest otherwise.

“I think there can be a lot made out of it when you don’t score.

“I think if you look at the chances we create they fall to everybody. They don’t just fall to one man.”

Bradley was also in a positive mood about the club’s recent acquisitions of UCD pair Neil Farrugia and Gary O’Neill, and their integration into the squad.

“UCD allowed Gary and Neil to come in early, so they’ve got to know the players really well. And Graham is in since Saturday so they’ve settled in really well.”

Bradley’s side face Sligo Rovers at home on Friday, before they travel to Norway to face SK Brann on Thursday week in their Europa League qualifier. Brann currently lie fourth in their league.

“Stephen McPhail (Sporting Director) went out yesterday and watched them (SK Brann). He said they’re a good side. It’ll be a tough game but it’s a game we can go and win.”
