RSC to host EA Sports Cup final
The FAI have confirmed that the 2009 EA SPORTS Cup final between Waterford United and Bohemians will take place in the RSC in Waterford on September 26th.
This will be the first time a major League of Ireland final has been held at the Waterford venue. It will be Waterford United’s first appearance in the final of this competition since 1985, when they defeated Finn Harps 2-1. Bohemians last appeared in the final of the competition in 2006, when they were defeated 1-0 by Derry City.
Waterford United booked their place in the final last night when they overcame UCD 3-1 at the UCD Bowl, while Bohemians defeated Sligo Rovers 4-2 after extra time in their semi final on Monday evening.
Following discussions with both clubs, it was agreed that the EA SPORTS Cup final will take place in the RSC. The two teams will compete for a prize fund of €15,000, as well as a guaranteed place in the 2010/11 Setanta Sports Cup.
