Andy Mulligan re-signs for Wexford
Andy Mulligan has re-signed with Wexford in the summer transfer window having left the club in late 2016 along with five team mates to join New Zealand side Southern United.
Manager Brian O’Sullivan has wasted no time in getting Mulligan’s signature for the rest of the season. In the last fortnight, O’Sullivan has also secured the signatures of defender Ricky Fox and midfielders Conor Sutton and John Peare.
Mulligan previously spent a number of seasons with Bohemians before signing for Wexford Youths in July 2014. The Carlow man was a key figure in Youths 2015 promotion season making 22 league appearances, scoring five times and was a key component to Danny Furlong’s record breaking 30 goals that season.
Mulligan left for Southern United in New Zealand in 2016 but unfortunately picked up an ACL injury in 2017. The midfielder has been recovering ever since with his only appearance coming as part of former team-mate Dean Broaders’ side Highview Athletic.
Mulligan expects to back to full fitness in three weeks’ time and will be hoping to renew the former successful partnership with Furlong.
Absolute humdinger of a signing. No ifs or maybes, if you offered me any player from the past 10 years of Wexford Youths and Wexford FC, Andy Mulligan would be MY first choice. https://t.co/QDBtXiNgK3
