Louise Quinn extends her time with the Gunners
Less than a week after celebrating the Women's Super League title win with Arsenal, Republic of Ireland international Louise Quinn has penned a new deal to continue as a mainstay of the London giants.
Wicklow native Quinn made 19 appearances in Arsenal’s triumphant league campaign.
Only fellow Irish player Katie McCabe and prolific scorer Vivianne Miedema featured more often in the side, and the 47 times international capped Quinn is eagerly anticipating lining up against Europe’s finest club sides next term.
Speaking to arsenal.com, Quinn said, “It’s absolutely huge for me. Definitely number one is that you’re looking for that league title and as long as I can keep putting those performances in on the pitch, and then to get a contract after is brilliant.”
“Being in the Champions League is massive for the club and it’s putting us back where we belong, where the history of the club is so strong. The fact that we can get back there means we will definitely be able to compete strongly as well.
“It’s just going to be a great experience for us and we want to compete to do well and win games in that as well. Just overall for the club, it’s brilliant.”
Having started out at Peamount United, Louise spent four years in Sweden at Eskilstuna. After a brief spell with Notts County, the 28-year-old switched to Arsenal’s Meadow Park ground at Borehamwood in May 2017. It has proved a veryy successful move.
“It’s just so hard to describe at the moment. I think we’ve all just clicked and have been performing at the right time together. I think the group that Joe (manager Joe Montemurro) has put together has mixed brilliantly on and off the pitch.”
“I think that’s just as important sometimes. If you look at the performances we’ve put in this season, it’s been so tight-knit and we’ve had to ask so much of each and every player as well.
"We all respect each other for the hard work and effort we’ve put in, and it’s shown by winning the league.”
Quinn was a recent quest on the extratime.ie Sportscast. You can listen back to her interview with our senior reporter Dave Donnelly here.
