League Preview: Galway United -v- Bray Wanderers

Galway United return to League action on Friday night when they face league leaders Bray Wanderers in Eamonn Deacy Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

Galway come into the game full of confidence following a 0-4 win at Ferrycarrig Park against Wexford last Friday night.

Galway boss Alan Murphy spoke to GalwayUnitedFC.ie saying that he felt that Gary Cronin’s Bray will present his side with another stern test.

“It’s only our second game at Eamonn Deacy Park and we’re saying that we’re facing the best side in the league once again.

“Before a ball was kicked, everybody was saying it was Shelbourne, but I have been adamant that this Bray team is the best on paper in terms of the mix that they have.”

Hoping to build on recent good results for the Tribesmen, Murphy commented, “The players have a lot of confidence, but we can’t be getting too carried away, and we won’t. It’s only game three of the league campaign and we’re very grounded in terms of where we are and the big task that’s ahead of this weekend.

“As a club we’re not looking any further than that. We have a tight group of players that are really engaged and want to perform for each other.”

In team news, Conor Layng (cruciate), Andrew Peters (ankle) and Iarfhlaith Davoren (calf) are all out. Kevin Horgan (abdominal injury) is considered doubtful.

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray Wanderers will be looking to maintain their 100% record in the league after registering two wins from two. The Seagulls beat Cabinteely on the opening night and then sealed a 2-0 win over Limerick at home. Last Monday they advanced into the second round of the EA Sports Cup by beating Wexford 3-2.

Dylan McGlade will be looking to get on the scoresheet once again as he has scored in two games out of three for Bray. He netted twice against Cabinteely on the opening day at Stradbrook and scored once on Monday night.

Defender Hughie Douglas will be looking to make the starting side in Galway as he started in Monday night’s Cup fixture. The young midfielder Luka Lovic will be also looking to make Gary Cronin’s starting eleven on Friday night as he impressed with a number of good passes and crosses in the cup game.

There was no team news available from Bray but the club have no suspensions to deal with.
