St. Pat's advance after away win

St. Patrick's Athletic have beaten Maltese side Valletta FC away by a single goal to nil to book a place in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round where they will take on PFC Krylya Sovetov Samara of Russia.

Pat's were heading towards an away goal exit and things looked bleak for the Inchicore side when substitute Darragh Ryan was red carded in the 79th minute. However, a minute later, recent signing Declan 'Fabio' O'Brien popped up with a goal and what ultimately was the winner of the tie. O'Brien was the scorer of Pats only goal in the home leg.

The first leg of the next round will take place on the 30 July, the second leg on the 6 August. Pats will play at home in the first leg.
