Salzburg boss writes off Bohs' chances

Red Bull Salzburg manager Huub Stevens has poured scorn on Bohemians chances of knocking his side out of the Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday night.

The Irish champions go into the second leg of the second qualifying round with a slight advantage after they secured a 1-1 draw and a precious away goal in the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg last week. However, Stevens has predicted that his charges will have too much for the Phibsboro side in the second leg.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said: "We respect all opponents but we really need to come away with a win. In the last game Bohemians played very well but we had a lot of chances and we will be looking to take up all the chances that we missed in that game. Salzburg is a very good team, as are Bohemians, but I very much expect that we will come out on top. When you see the chances that we gave away and all the mistakes that we made, of course it was 1-1, but we need to bring the chances in and win in the second leg."

Stevens made the comments at a press conference in Dalymount Park on Tuesday evening after the Salzburg squad had trained on the Dalymount pitch for the first time. Stevens expressed concerns over the surface at Dalymount, which he said was "curved" and much different "to the flat fields we are used to in Austria".

The Austrians arrived into Dublin Airport earlier that afternoon without their German forward Alexander Zickler. The former Bayern Munich player came off the bench to score the equaliser in Salzburg's 2-1 victory over Austria Vienna in their opening game of the 2009 Austrian league season at the weekend. However, the German was not included in Salzburg's Champions League squad so therefore cannot feature against Bohemians.

A large crowd is expected at Dalymount for the match. Bohemians said today that all tickets for the main stand are now sold out, while only a few remain for the Des Kelly stand. However, tickets remain on sale for the uncovered Connaught Street stand and spectators will be able to pay on the gate prior to kick off. Around 190 Salzburg fans are expected to make the trip to Dublin.

The Red Bull Salzburg squad for the game against Bohemians: Gustafsson, Arzberger; Schwegler, Sekagya, Dudic, Opdam, Ulmer, Augustinussen, Leitgeb, Vladavic, Traoui, Tchoyi, Cziommer, Aufhauser, Ilic, Jezek, Svento, Janko, Nelisse.
