Purdy signs with Bray Wanderers for 2019
Bray Wanderers have announced the signing of midfielder Richie Purdy from Drogheda United.
The 21-year-old signs for Gary Cronin’s side after spending two and a half seasons at Drogheda.
He first joined Drogheda on loan from Shamrock Rovers in 2016, having previously had a loan spell at Cabinteely on loan in 2015.
Purdy made ten league appearances in his loan spell with Drogheda as they were promoted to the Premier Division via the play-offs.
He made the move to Drogheda permanent in 2017 and made 24 appearances in all competitions for Drogheda, as they were relegated from the Premier Division.
He was again a regular fixture for Tim Clancy’s Drogheda in 2018, making 27 appearances in all competitions.
Purdy scored twice, both in the league, in 5-1 and 2-1 wins over Cobh Ramblers and Finn Harps respectively, as Drogheda reached the play-offs, losing out to Harps.
The midfielder now joins Paul Keegan, Derek Daly, Sean Heaney, Dylan Barnett, Darragh Gibbons, Gabriel Sava and Hugh Douglas in Gary Cronin’s Bra squad for 2019.
