Cork firesale begins
Cork City's off-the-field problems have now started to effect matters on the pitch as the club today lost key players Colin Healy and Denis Behan to Hartlepool United for a meagre €50,000.
Hartlepool were believed to have made an offer of €100,000 last week, which Tom Coughlan rejected. However, the desperate circumstances the club now find themselves in has led to this.
Both Healy and Behan said goodbye to their team-mates at training this morning. Although Behan will relish the challenge, Healy is said to be disappointed as the move will mean he needs to up-root his family that was settled on Leeside.
Paul Doolin's squad may be diminished further in the coming days, as Tom Coughlan looks to raise €400,000 due to his failure to pay taxes in the past year.
