Lawrence Vigouroux's Waterford form earns him a first call-up to the Chile national team

Goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has been rewarded for his fine form on loan with Waterford with a call-up to the Chilean national team.

The English-born stopper made 18 appearances on loan from Swindon Town in the first half of the season, keeping six clean sheets as the Blues surged into the top three.

He was recalled to the League Two side by manager Phil Brown over the summer and has started each of the Robins' five league games to date.

The 24-year-old has been called up for the friendlies with Japan, South Korea and Peru in place of regular number one Claudio Bravo, who misses out with a ruptured achilles tendon.

“Lawrence has been called up by Chile so he’s going to be away for a couple of games," Brown told the Swindon Advertiser.

New Chile boss Reinaldo Rueda assumed control following La Roja's failure to qualify for the World Cup in Russia and will use the opportunity to run the rule over the fomer Liverpool trainee.

Camden-born Vigouroux has been involed in youth and training squads with Chile but has so far yet to be involved at senior level.
