Limerick FC -v- Wexford Youths
Wexford Youths will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in the League to four games when they travel to Jackman Park to take on Pat Scully’s Limerick FC side. (Kick-off 7:45p.m).
Mick Wallace’s side have a poor record against Limerick since they were introduced to the League in 2007 and manager Wallace is aware of the challenge his side faces on Friday.
“Limerick are a bit of a bogey side for us in recent seasons. We have a terrible record against them and obviously we have always found it hard against them. I would much rather be facing one of the top four sides this weekend, that’s how difficult this game will be for us” Wallace stated.
Limerick are in contrasting form, having lost their last three games including a 1-0 loss to St. Pat’s in the FAI Cup. Limerick manager Pat Scully is searching for a reaction from his players in the wake of Limerick's poor performance away to Monaghan United last week.
Talking to Limerick FC’s official website Pat Scully explained, “A very poor result, from start to finish the performance of the players was very disappointing,"
"The result was bad and there's no disputing that fact. We just didn't come back from the (mid-season) break.” Pat Scully stressed this week.
"It was a very sloppy, a really poor display. That result was not acceptable and performances like it are not going to get us anywhere. The players were very disappointed with the standard of their performance and the players were let know in no uncertain terms that it just was not good enough. We were hindered a little with injuries, but that's no excuse." added Scully
In Limerick team news, Pat Scully returns to the sideline after a four match suspension. He will have to plan for Friday’s game without Pat Purcell, Jamie Wunsch, Ian Storan, Paul Cummins and Thomas Lyons who all miss out due to injury. Limerick have no suspensions.
Limerick’s new signings Gavin Roche and Conor Molan will be in the squad to play on Friday.
Meanwhile, Wexford are without the services of Lee Aust, Tim McGrath, Danny Furlong, Paul Murphy, Marty Kelly, Kyle Dempsey, and Packie Holden who all miss out due to injury. Johnny Flynn O’Connor is Wexford’s only suspension worry. Mick Wallace will be delighted to welcome back former Limerick player Conor Sinnott to his side after he missed recent games due to holidays.
Extratime.ie Prediction: Both sides to cancel each other out. 1-1.
