League Preview: Derry City -v- Bray Wanderers

DERRY CITY

Monday April 30th was the last time Derry City picked up all three points in a league fixture. That win of course was in Market’s Field against a struggling Limerick side.

Since that game, Derry have played four league fixtures, losing three and drawing one. Two of those loses came on the road in Inchicore and the home of tonight’s opponents, Bray. Dundalk became the first team to leave the new Brandywell with all three points, as champions Cork only left with a share of the spoils two days earlier.

Bray came to the Brandywell earlier in the season and left with a 5-1 loss, despite that fact Derry boss, Kenny Shields is taking nothing for granted ahead of the game.

“We're managing a lot of tired limbs at the minute and we'll be without Nicky Low against Bray.

“He has done a really good job for us this season but he won't be available due to injury.

"The players should enjoy playing Bray on a pitch with a bit of width a bit more than when we went there recently. That said they're battling hard themselves so we'll get nothing for free.

"We have to bounce back after those last two games. There have been factors in both that we had no control over but we have to move on. There's no point on dwelling anymore on the things that happened.

“We need to get the positivity back and the only way to do that is by getting back to what we had been doing well."

BRAY WANDERERS

Bray come into the game in mixed form with two losses, one win and one draw from their last four.

Tonight’s opponents, Derry City travelled to the Carlisle Grounds two weeks ago and left with their tails between their legs as Bray ran out 2-1 winners having frustrated a Derry side high on confidence.

Last Monday, the Seagulls battled gamely to a 2-2 draw with high-flying Waterford. The key factor being that the game was at home, somewhere they have produced big results.

Bray have already travelled to the Brandywell this season back in March losing 5-1. Wanderers have scored five and conceded ten in their last four games.
