League Preview: Sligo Rovers - V - Bohemians

SLIGO ROVERS

Sligo Rovers will look to pick up back-to-back home wins for the first time this season when they welcome Bohemians to the Showgrounds on Saturday (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Bit O’ Red made it four unbeaten from their last five games with a 2-1 win over relegation rivals Bray Wanderers on Monday night.

A first Sligo goal for Eduardo Pincelli and a first senior goal for Jack Keaney earned Sligo a two-goal half time lead before Cory Galvin scored a consolation late on.

"The results have been good, the performances are improving and we're demanding more because it's well within us,” manager Gerard Lyttle told the club's website.

"The first game with Bohemians was tight and they are probably in a similar position to us. Sometimes they deserve better than they get and they look a good side in many of their performances.

“They have a talented squad and were very unlucky against Waterford last week from our viewing. They'll be itching to get the win to kickstart their season.

"But we're a good side too and focus on our own display. The belief we have in the players is justified and putting a run together is very much within our reach.

“We take each game on one a time and this will be a tough one but it's another chance to show what we're all about to our home supporters."

Lyttle will have captain Kyle Callan-McFadden, David Cawley and Adam Morgan all back from suspension, but keeper Micheál Schlingermann continues to miss out with a neck injury.

BOHEMIANS

Keith Long’s side lost their last game 1-0 at Dalymount Park against Waterford on Monday night and he’ll be hoping a win against Sligo on Saturday evening could possibly change their fortunes.

Long said that his side can’t feel hard on themselves as the Gypsies look to climb the table.

Speaking on the Bohemians website Long Said: “The energy and effort of the players on Monday, you couldn’t have asked for much more from them. They were outstanding.

“We conceded a bad goal, which has happened too often for us this season.

“But they ran themselves into the ground trying to get a goal back and it’s hard to fault the performance.”

The Bohemians manager also said that there was not a lot between the sides when they played back in March.

“The last time we played, there wasn’t a lot between us but we felt we should have won the game.

“Sligo on a Saturday is a difficult place to go but we are going there to get a result, to win.

“We are not going to feel sorry for ourselves. We believe in ourselves and we will stay strong as a group.

“Let’s go get a result.”

Long will have Rob Cornwall, Derek Pender, Karl Moore, Ryan Swan, Cristian Maguerusan all unavailable for selection while Dan Byrne is a doubt with a groin injury, while winger Paddy Kavanagh is returning from suspension.
